7 Reason You Might Like Kill Me, by Alex Owens

Alex posted this on her site a few days ago and I just had to share 🙂

7 Reasons Why This Novel Might Be For:

  • Rock and roll, a strip club and some vamps with questionable morals sounds like your idea of a good time.
  • What’s better than a woman trying to chose between two men? A woman chosing between a man and another woman.
  • You like your fang stories with a healthy dose of darkness, grit or angst. i.e. No sparkly vamps for you!
  • You are an overworked Mom who has wished for super powers on more than one occasion.
  • You know that fanged Moms bite best!
  • Your ipod contains one or more of the following: Joan Jett, The Dollyrots, Korn, Rhianna, Vivaldi, Melissa Etheridge, Pink or 50-cents.
  • You know the answer to this question: Where is the worst place to develop Empath abilities? (A strip club, in case you didn’t know).
So, what are you waiting for? Check it out!

Quickie Book Review – Cupcakes, Trinkets and Other Deadly Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge

Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (The Dowser, #1)Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great cast, original plotting, and strikes the perfect balance between the typical “light” paranormal and the darker styles.

Quickie Book Review – Crimson Night by Marie Hall

Crimson Night (Night, #1)Crimson Night by Marie Hall

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wildly original, fast-paced and smexy. This novel was quite a ride and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. If you like your heroine sassy, smart and fighting her own personal demons, then you’ll love Pandora!

Quickie Book Review – Vampire Sun by J.R. Rain (Samantha Moon series)

Vampire Sun (Vampire for Hire, #9)Vampire Sun by J.R. Rain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series could only be better if Rain could manage to put out a new book every week or so, then I’d be happy. Who wouldn’t love a series about a Vamp mom with mystical qualities, a champion of the underdog, and she who flies on big black wings whenever her heart desires?

Seriously Rain, give me the next one S.T.A.T!

Quickie Book Review – Vampire Vacation by C.J. Ellisson

Vampire Vacation (The V V Inn, #1)Vampire Vacation by C.J. Ellisson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this, so much so that I forced my co-worker to get it immediately, since we have similar tastes in books. The plot/ world-building in this novel was inventive and original, the characters were fresh and complex, and I can definitely see myself reading more of this series, and by Ellisson in general!

Quickie Book Review – Blood From A Silver Cross by E.S. Moore

Blood from a Silver Cross (Kat Redding, #4)Blood from a Silver Cross by E.S. Moore

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I need to preface this review by stating the obvious– I should have read the prior books in the series first. With that being said, I wasn’t too lost starting this one, and found my footing relatively quickly. Overall, I like the complex cast of characters this series has going on and I’d recommend it to anyone who likes their paranormal/ UF heroine’s to be kick-*ss and feisty.

This book itself was well-written, fast-paced and had a fair amount of unique world-building involved. A great way to spend a few hours escaping from reality!

Quickie Book Review – Moon River (Vampire for Hire series) by J.R. Rain

Moon River (Vampire for Hire, #8)Moon River by J.R. Rain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think this series just keeps getting better and better! (The opposite of what usually happens once a series gets to this point.) Samantha, as usual, is up to her fangs in a conundrum involving the safety of those she loves… and that ending– Oy! What a scene. And then there’s Fang– poor misguided, dangerous Fang. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say I’m anxiously awaiting the next book!

Quickie Book Review – Hunters & Prey by Katie Salidas

Hunters & Prey (Immortalis, #2)Hunters & Prey by Katie Salidas

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Really like this book! Having read the first novel in the series, I can say that the characters are ever-evolving and feel very fleshed-out. There was plenty of action in the Fanged tale, but we also get to watch as Alyssa wrestles with some fairly heavy moral struggles. Can’t wait to read the next one!

Quickie Book Review – Easy Bake Coven by Liz Schulte

Easy Bake Coven (Easy Bake Coven, #1)Easy Bake Coven by Liz Schulte

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great book– fun to read, witty and complex. I loved the characters and how they all interacted. The magic elements are well done and inventive, and our heroine Selene can do some seriously cool stuff. The spice level is well-done and loved how the star-crossed history kept being revealed in bits and pieces.

A great introduction to a newer paranormal series and to the author. I will be snagging book two this weekend, and check out Schulte’s other works shortly too!
(Ps…. Book Two is out now as well. Check out Hungry, Hungry Hoodoo !)

Quickie Book Review – Hex and the Single Witch by Roxanne Rhoads

Hex and the Single Witch (Vehicle City Vampires #1)Hex and the Single Witch by Roxanne Rhoads

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hex and the Single Witch is a steamy, compelling paranormal / Urban fantasy. I enjoyed the setting, cast of interesting characters and, of course, the heat level. The “world” Ms. Rhoads has created is one full of magic and Otherworldly creatures, which live along side the normal humans– so someone has to bridge the divide and try to keep the peace by being part of an elite police unit. And that someone is a witch with limited abilities (or so it may seem), a saucy best friend and Magic-Tech-nerd, an always-flirting partner and a make-you-melt Vamp with a sorrid past. Throw in a few randy hexes and you’ve got yourself all the trappings for a page turner.

Can’t wait to read book two in the series!

Quickie Book Review – Vampire Games by J.R. Rain

Vampire Games (Vampire For Hire, #6)Vampire Games by J.R. Rain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love watching (er, reading) along with this series as the characters grow and evolve. Samantha and her children are particularly interesting in this book… and Fang, oh, Fang! As usual, the case of the moment was interesting and complex. The more books I read in this series, the more I like Rain and his style of writing. Bring on Book Seven!

Quickie Book Review – Vampire Dawn by J.R. Rain

Vampire Dawn (Vampire for Hire, #5)Vampire Dawn by J.R. Rain

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great addition to the series. Things are definitely evolving in Samantha’s world, and I can’t wait to see where the next book finds the Vamp Mom!

On a side note, I love the authors sparse, no nonsense style of writing. It’s clean, concise and really moved the story along at a clipping pace. 🙂
