Blood Chord Series #2- Bite Me – Available for Pre-order

Just wanted to swing by and let everyone know that the second book in the Blood Chord series has been opened up for pre-order on Amazon!

Bite Me (Blood Chord #2)

Amazon Link:

After the disastrous business trip that ended her mortal life, all Claire wants to do is get her freakish talents and blood-lust (and let’s be honest, regular ol’ lust too) under control, so that she can be a good mom, hide her fangs and maybe try to coax her stripper-turned-nanny into wearing some actual clothes that won’t make the local biddies fire up the gossip chain.

Thanks to her Vampire Disability Fund, Claire just might get the boring life of her dreams after all. So what if two brothers (one hot, one decidedly jerkish) have moved into the only other house in her remote neck of the woods? And so what if she hasn’t heard a peep out of her maker Bette or the other two members of The Triad? No news is good news, right?

Oh, how wrong she is…

Bite Me (approx. 65,000 words) is the second release in the wicked Blood Chord Series. It contains a fair amount of music, magic, fangs and freaks, along with adult situations– you’ve been warned!

Snag your copy for almost half-price now! Once the book goes live, the price will go back up to $4.99!

P.S: If you haven’t read the first book in the series, Kill Me, here’s your chance. For five days, Jan. 25th through the 29th (2015) you can pick up an ebook copy for free! Snag #1 and preorder #2 — that’s less than three bucks for two books. You can’t even get a latte for that price anymore 🙂

Three days ago, Claire was a wife, a mother, and very much alive… then the music called for her.

Claire has one goal for the conference— to land a few big clients so that her boss will give her a raise.  Bette is at the conference on a mission—to find a human with untapped talents that she can mold and control. Bette lures Claire in with a haunting violin solo, unraveling Claire’s life as her new talents emerge. To make matters worse, Claire is attracted to two unlikely people— both can light Claire’s fire, but is either of them the only one?

Three days ago, she was a wife, a mother, and very much alive… then the music called to her.
Marketing maven Claire has one goal for the Music Expo– to land a few whales so that her boss will give her a badly needed raise. She puts on her game face and courts the industry’s elite until her plans are derailed by hotness-in-high-heels.

Vampire Bette wants to find a human with untapped talents that she can mold and control. Using a haunted violin, she lures Claire in with her lilting song and bewitching smile. In that moment, Claire’s life is unraveled and she finds herself with more than strange dreams and overdue bills to worry about. Much more.

To make matters worse, Claire is attracted to two unlikely people– Bette and her hunky but pale associate, Gregor. Both can light Claire’s fire, but is either of them the only one?

Unfortunately for Claire, life isn’t all song lyrics and seduction. Tied to darkness by blood and power, Claire must harness her abilities if she has any hope of returning home to her daughter and regaining her former life.

“When I started reading Kill me, the first in a trilogy by new author Alex Owens I expected the usual – Vampires, Intrigue, Drama and a little bit of Spice.  What I did not expect was the hilarious writing! A few pages into the book and it is crystal clear that Owen’s strong suit is her ability to hit the funny bone every few sentences. ”   ~Aditi, READioactive Book Blog

“Not your traditional, action-packed vampire tale, but it is one that’s full of conflict – emotional, psychological, and (at times) extremely physical. Fast, fun, and . . . dare I say it, empowering . . . this is a wonderful story and one that will leave you anxious for more.” ~Sally, Bending the Bookshelf Blog
“Overall, a fun, indulgent novel that will appeal to any woman who has struggled with being a working mom and wished for secret powers.” ~ Christine, Ensconced in YA
“I made time for this book. I wanted to know what was going to happen next.” ~ Mark, Masquerade Crew

There are always thing that need doing when it comes to publishing and promoting, and one such item on our To Do list has been (for a while) was to get Alex her own author site.

Well, procrastination be damned! We’ve finally done it.

So hop on over to Alex’s new site, sign up for her email updates and take a glimpse into her sometimes-warped mind.

Kill Me’s Appearance on VampChix & Bite Club

Doh! I completely spaced on telling everyone that my book Kill Me made an appearance over on the wildly popular blog VampChix & Bite Club.

Honestly, this summer is kicking my tail.

Between my other job as a Photographer (wedding and Senior portrai season!), kids, baseball, helping my sis plan her wedding, writing, prepping for back to school… well, you get the picture. I’m uber-busy.

Which is why I’m so thankful for other blogs that read, review or even post about my books. Nothing like web copy that I don’t have to do a thing for!

My Novel KILL ME is now available at Sony!

Kill Me (book one in the paranormal / UF BLOOD CHORD series) is now available for those of you out there that have Sony ereaders! I did notice, however, that no only is the author bio incorrect, but it appears to have someone else’s bio pasted in place of the correct one. Sigh.

At least it’s active now, though!

Kill Me (Paranormal / Urban Fantasy) link for iBooks

So I finally figured out how to link to Kill Me on iBooks, thanks to a wonderful reader. So here it is! Go wild 🙂

Book Review – Driving Me Nuts by PJ Jones

Driving Me Nuts!Driving Me Nuts! by P.J. Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read a short story by PJ Jones (Ralphie the “Special” Werewolf, I think it was) in an anthology collection, I already knew the Jones has some serious comedic chops. So I expected this novel to be funny based on that and of course the cover. And it was… that’s quirky-funny, not silly-funny. There is a big difference.

What I wasn’t expecting was for Driving Me Nuts to have some substantial meat to it as well. Funny yes, but only funny– no. In fact, the absurd/ crazy moments balance out the more serious notes perfectly, making for a complex, satisfying novel.

And what better way to deal with life in all it’s craptastic glory, than to inject a little humor into it? In the end, I knew those damn nut-jobs, felt like they were friends or neighbors. Who am I kidding– they were my kin 🙂

Excellent fast-paced, quirky plot, tight writing and 3-D :jump out at you” characters. I will not hesitate to read more books my PJ Jones. In fact, I’m off to search for whatever else she’s written.

As an aside, Amazon Select seems to have lost it’s luster (more on that once I get all my thoughts together) so I’ve decided to go ahead and burn through the last few freebie days I have left with the newly released Kill Me.
