Witchstruck by Victoria Lamb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
All in all, Witchstruck was a compelling, well-written YA novel about a young witch in Tudor England. The historical aspects rang true and were quite captivating to fall into, and while I liked some of the characters more than others, as a whole the cast was rounded out nicely.
The “magic” in this novel was both typical and non-traditional, which I found to be a welcome creative risk. There is danger, conspiracy and testing of family loyalties. And of course, there is romance– but it’s more of the “PG” variety at this point. Perhaps future books in this trilogy will allow that relationship to grow and mature?
Oh, and don’t discount this book if you don’t typically read YA– adults will find more than enough reasons to like this book as well!
